Land Capabilities

KMSB’s landside capabilities are designed to support seamless logistics and efficient cargo movement. Offering expansive “just-in-time” laydown and secure storage areas for efficient cargo staging, inventory, and heavy equipment handling. A wide bi-directional 400m causeway and upgraded road infrastructure enhance road haulage flow and safety. This landside setup ensures seamless coordination between marine and inland logistics, optimizing asset management and supply-chain performance for diverse industries.

Unlock flexible laydown space just 1km from the wharf: ideal for logistics, haulage, and multiuser port service expansion.

Land Activation

The long – medium term laydown known as the Puzzle piece can accommodate customers needs which is 1km from the wharfs entrance.

  • The developed land will support KPA’s long-term strategy to position Broome as a logistics hub. Multiple haulage and logistics companies have interest in the opening of new facilities and need laydown associated with port services.
  • KMSB – can have a greater hard stand developed for laydown for specific customer interest.
  • KMSB can develop land as a multiuser facility.

Land Availability Near the Wharf

KMSB offers more than 20 hectares of prime industrial support land within 2 km of the floating wharf berth, ideal for diverse logistics and warehousing developments. This landbank supports efficient inventory management, asset staging, and “just‑in‑time” laydown, enabling rapid mobilization of heavy equipment and cargo operations.

Container Park

Current plans include 3.5 hectares of the laydown area being utilised for the storage of approximately 4500 loaded and empty retainers for a single client. This is to mitigate delays due to vessel schedules.

Bulk Warehouse

There's potential to develop a bulk warehouse capable of storing around 46,000 tonnes, equivalent to two months of production.

Distances from the Port

The support land is located approximately 1 kilometre of the wharf, facilitating efficient logistics.

Port Volume Constraints

The KMSB facility's design aims to enhance capacity and efficiency, contact us if you are intending to bring oversize cargo through the facility.

Buffer Stock on Wharf

The floating wharf's 9,900 square meter platform allows for the storage of buffer stock, supporting continuous operations. Rotainer and Container stacking on the wharf is an option.

Road Train Access

The facility’s design incorporates road network upgrades that significantly enhance safety and streamline traffic flow around the wharf. These improvements support a variety of transport operations—ranging from heavy haulage to light vehicles—ensuring efficient cargo movement. A 300 m bi-directional causeway, with an 85 m linkspan bridge, seamlessly connects the floating wharf to the landside abutment, enabling simultaneous loading and unloading of diverse cargo types.

This robust infrastructure design reduces congestion, mitigates safety risks, and supports 24/7 operations, tightly integrating landside and marine logistics to minimise turnaround times.
