In 2016 KMSB recognised a requirement to support enhanced trade through the Port of Broome and proceeded to conduct feasibility studies into the construction of the new KMSB Facility.

This is the story so far, and the future for KMSB.

Binding option to lease agreement with Kimberley Port Authority

2018

Preferred design solution confirmed and subsequently release of project proposal 

2019

Business case to WA State Government submitted

2020

Heritage and environmental approvals granted

Construction tender let

Operator appointment process commenced

2021

Preferred contractor appointed to design and construct

2022

Detailed numerical and physical modelling confirming infrastructure’s ability to withstand severe weather events


2023

Project fully funded

Commencement of construction phase

Finalisation and approval of detailed designs

Commencement of procurement phase
